Accountant – Construction Industry

Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Accountant with a robust background in the construction and contracting sectors. This role involves managing the full accounting lifecycle of multiple ongoing projects, ensuring accurate cost tracking and strict compliance with local regulations. You will serve as a financial partner to our project managers, providing the data necessary to monitor performance and optimize project-based cash flows.
🔹 Key Responsibilities:
- Manage daily accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
- Prepare, monitor, and control detailed project budgets while tracking actual vs. forecasted project costs.
- Handle subcontractor invoices, verify payment certifications, and manage complex progress billing processes.
- Record, reconcile, and review all project-related revenues and expenses to ensure ledger accuracy.
- Prepare monthly financial statements, specialized management reports, and in-depth cost analysis.
- Monitor project-based cash flow and ensure the timely execution of payments and collections.
- Process payroll for site staff and labor workers in coordination with the Human Resources department.
- Ensure full compliance with UAE VAT regulations, including accurate tax filings and adherence to local financial laws.
- Support external audits by preparing all required documentation and maintaining organized records for contracts, variations, and claims.
🔹 Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related academic discipline.
- Minimum 3–5+ years of dedicated accounting experience within the construction or contracting industry (Mandatory).
- Strong hands-on knowledge of project accounting, job costing, and rigorous cost control methods.
- Demonstrated experience handling subcontractor accounts and progress payment applications.
- High proficiency in professional accounting software or ERP systems and advanced MS Excel skills.
- Solid understanding of UAE VAT laws and taxation requirements.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with high attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict month-end and project reporting deadlines.
- Professional certifications such as ACCA, CMA, or CPA are considered a significant advantage.
