PMA Long Course 157: Detailed Registration and Selection Guide

The Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) at Kakul is accepting applications for the 157 PMA Long Course. This is an opportunity for young men to join the Pakistan Army as commissioned officers.

How to Apply?

Registration is mandatory and must be done online at the Pakistan Army’s official website: www.joinpakarmy.gov.pk. Alternatively, candidates may visit their nearest Army Recruitment and Selection Center (AS&RCs) to register.

Eligibility Criteria Summary

General Eligibility Requirements:

  • Nationality: Citizens of Pakistan, or Domicile holders of Azad Kashmir/Gilgit Baltistan.
  • Gender: Only Male applicants.
  • Physical: Minimum height 5’-4″ (162.5 cm) and weight according to Body Mass Index (BMI).
  • Relaxation: Candidates from specific areas (Balochistan, FATA, GB, AJK, etc.) are eligible for a 55% marks concession in the academic requirement.

The Selection Process

The selection process is multi-stage and highly competitive:

1. Preliminary Tests at AS&RC

This stage involves the following components:

  • Written/Intelligence Test: A computerized test covering:
    • Verbal and Non-verbal Intelligence (Passing Marks: 50%).
    • Academic Test: General Knowledge, Pakistan Studies, English, Math, and Islamiat (Passing Marks: 50%).
  • Initial Medical Examination: Check-ups for Diabetes, Cholesterol, Eyesight, Blood Pressure, and general fitness.
  • Physical Test: Candidates must successfully complete all events within the given time/repetitions.

Run 1.6 Km in 8 Minutes
Push-ups 15 Repetitions in 2 Minutes
Crunches 20 Repetitions in 2 Minutes
Pull-ups 3 Repetitions in 2 Minutes
Ditch Crossing 7.4 Feet x 7.4 Feet

2. Inter Services Selection Board (ISSB)

Successful candidates from the preliminary stage will receive an ISSB form and undergo a 5-day assessment (mental and physical) at the PMA Academy.

3. Final Selection

  • Final Medical Examination: A thorough medical examination for final selection.
  • Interview: Conducted by a National Security and War Course (NSWC) qualified officer at the AS&RC. The interview assesses confidence, current affairs knowledge, religion, and Pakistan Studies knowledge.
  • GHQ Clearance: Final selection is based on overall performance and merit at the General Headquarters (GHQ).

Selected candidates will undergo a two-year training program at PMA Kakul, consisting of four 6-month terms, culminating in the degree of Second Lieutenant.
