Qualification Criteria
Candidates must fulfill any one of the following qualifications with at least 2nd Division:
- Matric (Science) + 03 years DAE in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Information Technology, or Automobile ‘or’
- F.Sc (Pre-Engineering) + 03 months Computer Course from a recognized institute ‘or’
- Intermediate in Computer Science (ICS)
Age Limit & Relaxation
Base Age Limit: 18 to 25 years
General Age Relaxation: 5 years
- Scheduled Castes, Buddhist Community, Sindh Rural & Balochistan, AJK & Northern Areas: +3 years
- Ex-Servicemen: Up to 15 years or actual service rendered (whichever is less)
- Government servants / contract employees with 2 years service: +10 years (maximum age 55)
- Child of deceased civil servant who died during service: +5 years
- Only one category of age relaxation may be claimed

Job Responsibilities
Assistant Drivers support locomotive drivers in ensuring safe and efficient train operations. Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting in locomotive pre-departure inspections
- Monitoring signals, speed limits, and safety indicators
- Supporting cab operations and reporting technical faults
- Maintaining operational logbooks
- Assisting during emergencies and breakdowns
- Supporting shunting and marshalling operations
- Adhering to railway safety rules and operational discipline
