Job Description:

We are seeking an exceptionally analytical, precise, and highly strategic Claims Negotiator to manage daily commercial pipelines, advanced laytime dispute workflows, and financial claim remediation tracking tracks at our corporate shipping office in Dubai. 🔹 Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle, audit, and assertively negotiate high-value shipping claims arising from complex global tanker desk operations and liquid cargo voyages.
  • Coordinate dynamically with global shipowners, international cargo traders, P&I clubs, marine insurers, and principal freight forwarders.
  • Manage, mitigate, and successfully settle complex maritime disputes relating to demurrage, detention, cargo heating parameters, speed/consumption variances, and port dues.
  • Review, dissect, and validate maritime charterparty clauses, bill of lading documentation, and master vessel logbooks to establish legal claim legitimacy.
  • Ensure highly accurate financial processing, strict ledger tracking, and rapid commercial settlement of all verified maritime claims.
  • Maintain flawless digital archiving hygiene, preserving a comprehensive history of dispute communications, settlement agreements, and legal evidence files.
  • Collaborate fluidly with cross-functional chartering, post-fixture operations, and legal departments to minimize financial commercial exposures.
  • Analyze recurring operational claim bottlenecks, providing strategic visibility to senior management to optimize future contract terms.

🔹 Requirements:

  • Possession of a minimum of 3 years of verified professional experience operating within shipping operations, post-fixture management, or maritime claims handling is strictly mandatory.
  • Extensive hands-on exposure working directly on an active Tanker Desk setup, dealing with wet bulk, oil, gas, or chemical shipping procedures is required.
  • Solid academic foundation through a Bachelor’s Degree or Higher Diploma in Maritime Studies, Global Logistics, Shipping Management, Business Administration, or a closely related technical track.
  • Deep structural understanding of laytime calculations, demurrage/detention mechanics, maritime commercial law principles, and marine insurance claim frameworks.
  • Advanced software capability utilizing modern maritime enterprise platforms (such as IMOS, Veson), professional laytime calculators, and complex MS Excel formulas.
  • Exceptional negotiation capabilities paired with professional verbal and written communication command over the English language to influence international shipping stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated capacity to resolve complex financial conflicts under rigid trade timelines, remaining highly organized in a fast-paced trading floor environment.
  • Practical background in basic education regarding voyage economics math variables, bunker fuel diagnostics, and shipping project lifecycle workflow management methodologies.
