Job Description:
We are seeking an exceptionally qualified, analytical Senior PHP Developer to govern legacy source architectures and optimize high-availability backend systems for a high-profile government-related digital transformation project in Ras Al Khaimah. Operating as the principal backend engineer within a highly secure framework, this full-time contract role focuses on upgrading critical data processing engines, tuning municipal database infrastructures, and integrating complex external APIs under our centralized technology management team.
🔹 Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, optimize, and maintain legacy PHP-based core applications, writing clean, well-documented, and secure backend source code.
- Execute complex relational database designs, structure data schemas, and perform intensive query tuning using MySQL engines.
- Integrate, secure, and manage multiple data exchange layers, including web-scale RESTful services and legacy SOAP APIs.
- Configure, monitor, and optimize web server environments utilizing Apache structures to guarantee high system response times.
- Enforce secure coding practices across the software life cycle and maintain comprehensive repository branching strategies using Git version control.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with system architects, front-end engineers, and public stakeholders to deliver scalable digital services.
- Troubleshoot, isolate, and remediate high-priority technical anomalies, software bottlenecks, and server-side issues efficiently.
🔹 Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a closely related quantitative computing discipline.
- Minimum of 7+ years of verifiable, hands-on professional backend software development experience specializing in core PHP technologies.
- Expert-level engineering command of older legacy platforms, specifically focusing on the maintenance and manipulation of PHP 5.x / 5.6 systems.
- Deep structural mastery of relational databases, with proven capability managing MySQL (5.7) data indexing, caching, and execution optimization.
- Solid operational knowledge of Apache server administration, network protocols, data encryption standards, and distributed versioning systems like Git.
- Exceptional technical problem-solving capacities, analytical reasoning skills, and a disciplined approach to code refactoring exercises.
- Prior experience deploying software applications for public utilities, municipal systems, or highly regulated government environments is an advantage.
- Familiarity with modern frameworks (e.g., Laravel, Symfony), basic front-end components (HTML/CSS/JavaScript), and UAE digital safety compliance rules is preferred.
